High quality Underslung Tanks for caravans & campers

Secure mounting and installation of an underslung water tank in your motorhome is very important due to the shocks and vibrations that occur during mobile use. In principle, the greater the surface area of the underslung water tank resting on the struts or frame of the motorhome, the better. We recommend a general guideline depending on the volume and dimensions of the underslung tank. For a flat tank, at least 1/4 of the surface should be firmly supported and 3/4 can remain free. The smaller the distance between the supporting surface and the 'non-supporting surface' of the mounting frame, the better. Due to the different space requirements of different vehicles (motorhomes, caravans, campers, buses, expedition vehicles, etc.), we do not offer special frames or racks for the installation of underfloor water tanks on vehicles. Tension straps and sturdy steel mounting perforated tape can be used well for this.

Securing Underslung Water Tanks

We recommend hard rubber or non-slip mats to prevent slipping. These will also protect your vehicle's underslung water tank from stone chipping. We also recommend full or side cladding with L-profiles or angles to provide a secure hold on all sides.

How to attach Underslung Water Tanks to the vehicle

The same applies to the installation of the water tank in your vehicle, caravan or camper. Whether a flat, upright or tower tank is used is of secondary importance and usually depends on the space available or the position in the vehicle. If available, the notches and ribs on the tank can also be used to attach rigid struts or lashing straps to secure the tank in the caravan without sacrificing space. We strongly advise against securing or lashing the tank solely with lashing straps over the baffle walls, as this is a less pronounced point on the water tank.

Installation of Water Tanks as an Underslung Tank with tank lid facing upwards

Some of our Underslung Tanks (for VW Transporters) are specially designed for inverted installation. For all others, we recommend that you always install the water tank in or on your caravan or camper with the existing lid opening facing upwards to prevent any possible leaks from the tank lid. Although this may not be common practice for some self-builders, you are always on the safe side. We have many identical water tanks in our range in flat, upright and tower shapes. The only difference is the position of the lid and possibly the size of the lid. This means that you can hopefully make the most of the space available.
