High quality Water Tanks for Camper conversions

Our small, compact water tanks from 12-105 litres are ideal for camper van conversions. Made from high quality, food-safe plastic, they are ideal for use as fresh- or wastewater tanks in your camper, sprinter, van or transporter. The compact shapes of our camper water tanks allow for easy and space-saving installation in the vehicle interior, e.g. in bed drawers, bench seats, furniture or in the camping kitchen, e.g. under the sink. Our flat ‘Camper water tanks’ are ideal for underslung installation under a camper or caravan, thanks to their low height and 12 cm tank lid that is flush with the top of the tank. The inlet, outlet and vent for our Camper Water Tank can be individually sized and positioned to suit the space available in your camper or transporter.

Camper water tank - installation of a professional water system vs. water canister solution

As well as customising motorhomes and caravans, it is becoming increasingly popular to customise campers, vans, sprinters & transporters. In order to have a self-sufficient supply of fresh water in your vehicle at all times, whether on a long journey or a short trip, you need a fresh water tank in your Camper. Our small, compact, extra-flat or upright camper water tanks are particularly space-saving and are made from high quality, food-grade plastic using the rotational moulding process. This means that our Camper range of water tanks have no welds and are moulded in one piece. This means that leaks are virtually impossible with our Camper water tanks.

With our water tanks, you can install a professional fresh and waste water system in your Camper that is tailored to your needs and will work reliably for many years to come. Of course, regular cleaning of the system is necessary and recommended. A water system with our camper tanks will last longer and work more reliably than the usually cheaper, thin-walled water canisters, which have less volume and a much shorter service life due to the complex manufacturing process of our water tanks.

The moulded brass threaded BSP outlets (usually ½" or ¾") on our water tanks can be used for draining. For your individual use with additional or alternative connections on the camper water tank, you can also easily and conveniently connect all additional consumers such as showers, washbasins, sinks, etc. via tank feed-throughs or PVC Tank Connection Sets, creating a perfectly customised fresh and waste water supply system for your camper.

Find the ideal size for your campervan water tank (fresh & waste water)

People often ask how much fresh water they should carry in their Camper and how much they should allow for a waste water tank. Of course, this must always be considered on a case-by-case basis and essentially depends on how many consumers (shower, washbasin, sink, etc.) you want to use and connect to the camper water tank. For a fully equipped camper, Sprinter or van with a shower, a fresh water tank of 60 - 105 litres is usually sufficient to provide a self-sufficient fresh water supply for a few days.

The camper waste water tank is often a little smaller for this purpose and usually a 40-70 litre camper waste water tank is perfectly adequate. If there is enough space, the fresh water and waste water tanks in the camper are often kept similar or the same size, so that the camper can be filled with fresh water and the waste water tank emptied in a single operation.

Camper water tank as waste water tank / underslung tank

An underslung tank is mounted outside the camper under the vehicle or can be perfectly integrated into the false floor. For an underslung tank for your camper, we recommend our flat versions of the Camper Water Tank with a 12 cm lid. These are amply dimensioned and, thanks to the low height and the 12cm lid, which is flush with the top of the tank, you lose very little ground clearance. Contrary to common practice, we recommend that the 12cm lid opening is always pointing upwards to be on the safe side and prevent any leakage from the lid opening. There is no difference in quality between a black or natural translucent camper water tank.

Our black versions are often used for waste water tanks on caravans and campers, usually for visual reasons. They are opaque, so dirt or debris is not visible from the outside, which is more appealing to many installers. In addition, camper water tanks are often fitted or wrapped with a hard rubber mat or self-adhesive rubber insulation (Armaflex) when installed underfloor. This insulation provides a degree of frost protection and prevents stone chipping from below. This means that your Camper's underslung water tank, whether natural translucent or black, can provide years of reliable service.

Camper Water Tank in black or natural translucent - Benefits / How to decide

You have the option of ordering the water tank for your camper in black or semi-transparent colour. Both tank colours have their advantages:

Advantages natural translucent:

  • Our standard colour, tanks usually in stock & ready for immediate dispatch
  • Always 10% cheaper than our water tanks in black
  • Filling level in the camper water tank visible from the outside
  • Contamination in the water tank is easier to recognise - easier to clean
  • Are often installed in the vehicle interior

Advantages black:

  • Opaque; reduced biofilm & algae formation
  • Contamination from waste water not visible from the outside
  • Colour-matched to the underbody - hardly noticeable
  • Are often installed underfloor (outside, under the vehicle)
  • Recommended as a black water tank or faeces tank

Both colours can be used as fresh and waste water tanks in the camper (food-safe plastic)

The flat camper water tank with 12 cm flush lid opening is particularly suitable for underslung installation: Align the lid upwards!

Recommendation for vehicle installation: Select a tank lid without vent and install an external vent PVC tank vent or PP Tank Connection Set

Mounting the camper water tank - under the vehicle

In contrast to the installation in the interior of the vehicle, the installation of a camper water tank as an underslung tank is a little more complex. We currently only offer Fitting Kits for our vehicle-specific underfloor tanks for the VW Transporter range. These kits consist of stainless steel brackets and screws to secure the tank under the camper. All other camper tanks are universal tanks, means they are not vehicle-specific and must be fitted individually. Always plan and check the available space and mounting options on the vehicle in advance. When installing our flat universal tanks as underslung tanks, we recommend that the 12 cm lid opening always faces upwards.

The main load should be carried by fasteners such as steel brackets, aluminium angle sections, L-brackets or similar. Ensure that the load is not applied too selectively. In addition, or as an alternative, high quality mounting tape, e.g. perforated or stainless steel tape, can be used for fixing and joining with screws or blind rivets. Ideally this should also be plastic coated to prevent the 'water tank camper' slipping and to protect it from deep scratches. Additional lashing straps can also be used to secure the water tank in or under the camper. Also make sure that the water tank is easily accessible under the floor so that you can easily drain the contents or clean the camper water tank from time to time.

Camper Water Tank - Which connections are required or possible?

In addition to the basic dimensions and fixing options, it is best to include the required connections in the design. Of course, the exact position of the connections will often not become clear until the actual installation on site. Nevertheless, it is a good idea to think about the desired size of these connections on the camper's water tank. In addition to the inspection or cleaning opening = lid opening, which is always provided on a water tank camper anyway, an external inlet, a vent and an outlet are usually required.

With our food-safe PP Tank Connection Sets or our pre-configured PVC Tank Connection Sets, you can easily fit these connections (usually for external inlet and vent) in the required size to all flat points of the camper water tanks. Our plastic accessories can be used to make connections with tank connection sizes ranging from 1/2"-2" to 10mm-63mm hoses. This means that our camper water tanks are very flexible when it comes to using individual connections for inlet, vent and outlet. Over the years, the 40mm inlet connection has become the standard and is installed by most installers.

For venting the camper water tanks we recommend ordering the lids without a vent and always fitting an additional external vent, e.g. our PVC tank vents. This will prevent liquid from escaping through the lid vent if the water in the tank is sloshing around. In addition, this type of vent will always equalise the air on both sides. In fact, this system of venting also acts as an overflow. If the vent hose is routed to the filler neck and fitted next to the inlet pipe on the corresponding vent neck, the water is pressed out when the tank is fully filled and cannot cause any damage inside the vehicle.

The brass threaded BSP outlets on our camper tanks is often used for the outlet. You can connect a suitable Brass Tank Connection Sets with ball valve and hosetails directly to this. If this outlet on the camper water tank is too small for your purpose, e.g. for emptying residual water (possibly with a black water or faeces tank), or is in a place where you cannot use it, then simply order it with an undrilled/closed outlet. You can then flexibly design and install a larger alternative outlet as described above with plastic tank connections / Push-In PSB Fittings, Ball Valves and Hosetails male thread / hosetails female thread. Of course, all standard pumps or level sensors for controlling and monitoring the fresh and waste water levels can be installed individually.
